Remembernow thy Creatorin the daysof thy youth, whilethe evildayscomenot, nor the yearsdraw nigh, whenthou shalt say, I have nopleasurein them; Whilethe sun, or the light, or the moon, or the stars, be notdarkened, nor the cloudsreturnafterthe rain: In the daywhen the keepersof the houseshall tremble, and the strongmenshall bow themselves, and the grindersceasebecausethey are few, and those that lookout of the windowsbe darkened, And the doorsshall be shutin the streets, when the soundof the grindingis low, and he shall rise upat the voiceof the bird, and allthe daughtersof musicshall be brought low; Also when they shall be afraidof that which is high, and fears shall be in the way, and the almond treeshall flourish, and the grasshoppershall be a burden, and desireshall fail: becausemangoethtohis longhome, and the mournersgo aboutthe streets: Oreverthe silvercordbe loosed, or the goldenbowlbe broken, or the pitcherbe brokenatthe fountain, or the wheelbrokenatthe cistern. Then shall the dustreturntothe earthas it was: and the spiritshall returnuntoGodwhogaveit. Vanityof vanities, saiththe preacher; all is vanity. And moreover, because the preacherwaswise, he stilltaughtthe peopleknowledge; yea, he gave good heed, and sought out, and set in ordermanyproverbs. The preachersoughtto find outacceptablewords: and that which was written was upright, even wordsof truth. The wordsof the wise are as goads, and as nailsfastened by the mastersof assemblies, which are givenfrom one shepherd. And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of makingmanybooks there is noend; and muchstudy is a wearinessof the flesh. Let us hearthe conclusionof the wholematter: FearGod, and keephis commandments: forthis is the whole duty of man. ForGodshall bringeveryworkinto judgment, witheverysecret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
