The richman is wisein his own conceit; but the poorthat hath understandingsearcheth him out. When righteous men do rejoice, there is greatglory: but when the wickedrise, a manis hidden. He that coverethhis sinsshall notprosper: but whoso confessethand forsaketh them shall have mercy. Happy is the manthat fearethalways: but he that hardenethhis heartshall fallinto mischief. As a roaringlion, and a rangingbear; so is a wickedruleroverthe poorpeople. The princethat wantethunderstanding is also a greatoppressor: but he that hatethcovetousnessshall prolong his days. A manthat doeth violenceto the bloodof any personshall fleetothe pit; let noman stayhim. Whoso walkethuprightlyshall be saved: but he that is perverse in his waysshall fallat once. He that tillethhis landshall have plentyof bread: but he that followethafter vain persons shall have povertyenough. A faithfulmanshall aboundwith blessings: but he that maketh hasteto be richshall notbe innocent. To have respectof persons is notgood: for fora pieceof bread that manwill transgress. Hethat hastethto be rich hath an evileye, and considerethnotthatpovertyshall come uponhim. He that rebuketha manafterwardsshall findmore favorthan he that flatterethwith the tongue. Whoso robbethhis fatheror his mother, and saith, It is notransgression; the same is the companionof a destroyer. He that is of a proudheartstirreth upstrife: but he that putteth his trustinthe LORDshall be made fat. Hethat trustethin his own heartis a fool: but whoso walkethwisely, heshall be delivered. He that givethunto the poorshall notlack: but he that hidethhis eyesshall have manya curse. When the wickedrise, menhide themselves: but when they perish, the righteousincrease.
