When the scorneris punished, the simpleis made wise: and when the wiseis instructed, he receivethknowledge. The righteous man wisely considereththe houseof the wicked: but God overthroweththe wickedfor their wickedness. Whoso stoppethhis earsat the cryof the poor, he alsoshall cryhimself, but shall notbe heard. A giftin secretpacifiethanger: and a rewardin the bosomstrongwrath. It is joyto the justto dojudgment: but destruction shall be to the workersof iniquity. The manthat wanderethout of the wayof understandingshall remainin the congregationof the dead. He that lovethpleasure shall be a poorman: he that lovethwineand oilshall notbe rich. The wicked shall be a ransomfor the righteous, and the transgressorforthe upright. It is betterto dwellin the wilderness, than with a contentiousand an angrywoman. There is treasureto be desiredand oilin the dwellingof the wise; but a foolishmanspendeth it up. He that followethafter righteousnessand mercyfindethlife, righteousness, and honor. A wise man scaleththe cityof the mighty, and casteth downthe strengthof the confidencethereof. Whoso keepethhis mouthand his tonguekeepethhis soulfrom troubles. Proud and haughtyscorner is his name, who dealethin proudwrath. The desireof the slothfulkillethhim; forhis handsrefuseto labor. He covetethgreedilyallthe daylong: but the righteousgivethand sparethnot. The sacrificeof the wicked is abomination: how much more, when he bringethit with a wicked mind? A falsewitnessshall perish: but the manthat hearethspeakethconstantly. A wickedmanhardenethhis face: but as for the upright, hedirectethhis way. There is nowisdomnorunderstandingnorcounselagainstthe LORD. The horse is preparedagainst the dayof battle: but safety is of the LORD.
