And the LORDsaiduntoMoses, Depart, and go uphence, thouand the peoplewhichthou hast brought upout of the landof Egypt, untothe landwhichI sworeunto Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, Unto thy seedwill I giveit: And I will sendan angelbeforethee; and I will drive outthe Canaanite, the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite: Untoa landflowingwith milkand honey: forI will notgo upin the midstof thee; forthou art a stiffneckedpeople: lestI consumethee in the way. And when the peopleheardtheseeviltidings, they mourned: and nomandid putonhim his ornaments. For the LORDhad saiduntoMoses, Sayuntothe childrenof Israel, Ye are a stiffneckedpeople: I will come upinto the midstof thee in amoment, and consumethee: therefore nowput offthy ornamentsfromthee, that I may knowwhatto dounto thee. And the childrenof Israelstripped themselvesof their ornamentsby the mountHoreb. And Mosestookthe tabernacle, and pitchedit withoutthe camp, afar offfromthe camp, and calledit the Tabernacleof the congregation. And it came to pass, that every onewhich soughtthe LORDwent outuntothe tabernacleof the congregation, which was withoutthe camp. And it came to pass, when Moseswent outuntothe tabernacle, that allthe peoplerose up, and stoodevery man at his tentdoor, and lookedafterMoses, untilhe was goneinto the tabernacle. And it came to pass, as Mosesentered intothe tabernacle, the cloudypillardescended, and stood at the doorof the tabernacle, and the LORD talkedwithMoses. And allthe peoplesawthe cloudypillarstand at the tabernacledoor: and allthe peoplerose upand worshiped, every man in his tentdoor. And the LORDspokeuntoMosesfacetoface, asa manspeakethuntohis friend. And he turned againintothe camp: but his servantJoshua, the sonof Nun, a young man, departednotout ofthe tabernacle. And Mosessaiduntothe LORD, See, thousayestuntome, Bring upthispeople: and thouhast notlet me knowwhomthou wilt sendwithme. Yet thouhast said, I knowthee by name, and thou hast alsofoundgracein my sight. Nowtherefore, I pray thee, ifI have foundgracein thy sight, showme nowthy way, thatI may knowthee, that I may findgracein thy sight: and considerthatthisnation is thy people. And he said, My presenceshall go with thee , and I will give thee rest. And he saiduntohim, Ifthy presencegonot with me , carry us not uphence. For whereinshall it be knownherethatIand thy peoplehave foundgracein thy sight? is it notin that thou goestwithus? so shall we be separated, Iand thy people, from allthe peoplethat are uponthe faceof the earth. And the LORDsaiduntoMoses, I will dothisthingalsothatthou hast spoken: forthou hast foundgracein my sight, and I knowthee by name. And he said, I beseech thee, showme thy glory. And he said, Iwill make allmy goodnesspassbeforethee, and I will proclaimthe nameof the LORDbeforethee; and will be graciousto whomI will be gracious, and will show mercyon whomI will show mercy. And he said, Thou canstnotseemy face: forthere shall nomanseeme, and live. And the LORDsaid, Behold, there is a placebyme, and thou shalt standupona rock: And it shall come to pass, while my glorypasseth by, that I will putthee in a cleftof the rock, and will coverthee with my handwhileI pass by: And I will take awaymine hand, and thou shalt seemy back parts: but my faceshall notbe seen.
