Ifa manshall stealan ox, ora sheep, and killit, orsellit; he shall restorefiveoxenforan ox, and foursheepfora sheep. Ifa thiefbe foundbreaking up, and be smittenthat he die, there shall noblood be shed for him. Ifthe sunbe risenuponhim, there shall be blood shed for him; for he should make full restitution; ifhe have nothing, then he shall be soldfor his theft. Ifthe theftbe certainly foundin his handalive, whether it be ox, orass, orsheep; he shall restoredouble. Ifa manshall cause a fieldorvineyardto be eaten, and shall put inhis beast, and shall feedin another man's field; of the bestof his own field, and of the bestof his own vineyard, shall he make restitution. Iffirebreak out, and catchin thorns, so that the stacks of corn, orthe standing corn, orthe field, be consumed therewith ; he that kindledthe fireshall surely make restitution. Ifa manshall deliveruntohis neighbormoneyorstuffto keep, and it be stolenout of the man's house; ifthe thiefbe found, let him paydouble. Ifthe thiefbe notfound, then the masterof the houseshall be broughtuntothe judges, to see whetherhe have puthis handunto his neighbor's goods. Forallmannerof trespass, whether it be forox, forass, forsheep, forraiment, or forany mannerof lost thing, which another challengethto be his, the causeof both partiesshall comebeforethe judges; and whomthe judgesshall condemn, he shall paydoubleunto his neighbor. Ifa mandeliveruntohis neighboran ass, oran ox, ora sheep, or anybeast, to keep; and it die, orbe hurt, ordriven away, no manseeing it : Then shall an oathof the LORDbebetweenthem both, thathe hath notputhis handunto his neighbor's goods; and the ownerof it shall accept thereof , and he shall notmake it good. And ifit be stolenfromhim, he shall make restitutionunto the ownerthereof. Ifit be torn in pieces, then let him bringit for witness, and he shall notmake goodthat which was torn. And ifa manborrow aught ofhis neighbor, and it be hurt, ordie, the ownerthereof being notwithit, he shall surely make it good. But ifthe ownerthereof be withit, he shall notmake it good: ifit be a hired thing , it camefor his hire. And ifa manenticea maidthatis notbetrothed, and liewithher, he shall surely endowher to be his wife. Ifher fatherutterly refuseto giveher unto him, he shall paymoneyaccording to the dowryof virgins. Thou shalt notsuffer a witch to live. Whosoeverliethwitha beastshall surely be put to death. He that sacrificethunto any god, saveunto the LORDonly, he shall be utterly destroyed. Thou shalt neithervexa stranger, noroppresshim: forye werestrangersin the landof Egypt. Ye shall notafflictanywidow, or fatherless child. Ifthou afflict them in any wise, andthey cry at alluntome, I will surely heartheir cry; And my wrathshall wax hot, and I will killyou with the sword; and your wivesshall bewidows, and your childrenfatherless. Ifthou lendmoneyto any of my people that is poorbythee, thou shalt notbeto him as a usurer, neithershalt thou layuponhim usury. Ifthou at all take thy neighbor's raiment to pledge, thou shalt deliverit unto him by thatthe sungoeth down: Forthat is his coveringonly, it is his raimentfor his skin: whereinshall he sleep? and it shall come to pass, whenhe criethuntome, that I will hear; forI am gracious. Thou shalt notrevilethe gods, norcursethe rulerof thy people. Thou shalt notdelay to offer the first of thy ripe fruits, and of thy liquors: the firstbornof thy sonsshalt thou giveunto me. Likewiseshalt thou dowith thine oxen, and with thy sheep: sevendaysit shall bewithhis dam; on the eighthdaythou shalt giveit me. And ye shall beholymenunto me: neithershall ye eat any flesh that is torn of beastsin the field; ye shall castit to the dogs.
