In the thirdmonth, when the childrenof Israelwere gone forthout of the landof Egypt, the samedaycamethey into the wildernessof Sinai. For they were departedfrom Rephidim, and were come to the desertof Sinai, and had pitchedin the wilderness; and thereIsraelcampedbeforethe mount. And Moseswent upuntoGod, and the LORDcalleduntohim out ofthe mountain, saying, Thusshalt thou sayto the houseof Jacob, and tellthe childrenof Israel; Yehave seenwhatI didunto the Egyptians, and how I boreyou oneagles' wings, and broughtyou untomyself. Nowtherefore, ifye will obey my voice indeed, and keepmy covenant, then ye shall bea peculiar treasureunto me above allpeople: forallthe earth is mine: And yeshall beunto me a kingdomof priests, and a holynation. These are the wordswhichthou shalt speakuntothe childrenof Israel. And Mosescameand calledfor the eldersof the people, and laidbefore their facesallthesewordswhichthe LORDcommandedhim. And allthe peopleansweredtogether, and said, Allthatthe LORDhath spokenwe will do. And Mosesreturnedthe wordsof the peopleuntothe LORD. And the LORDsaiduntoMoses, Lo, Icomeuntothee in a thickcloud, thatthe peoplemay hearwhen I speakwiththee, and believethee forever. And Mosestoldthe wordsof the peopleuntothe LORD. And the LORDsaiduntoMoses, Gountothe people, and sanctifythem todayand tomorrow, and let them washtheir clothes, And bereadyagainst the thirdday: forthe thirddaythe LORDwill come downin the sightof allthe peopleuponmountSinai. And thou shalt set boundsunto the peopleround about, saying, Take heedto yourselves, that ye go not upinto the mount, or touchthe borderof it: whosoevertoucheththe mountshall be surely put to death: There shall nota handtouchit, buthe shall surely be stoned, orshot through; whether it be beastorman, it shall notlive: when the trumpetsoundeth long, theyshall come upto the mount. And Moseswent downfromthe mountuntothe people, and sanctifiedthe people; and they washedtheir clothes. And he saiduntothe people, Bereadyagainst the thirdday: comenotat your wives. And it came to passon the thirddayin the morning, that there werethundersand lightnings, and a thickclouduponthe mount, and the voiceof the trumpetexceedingloud; so that allthe peoplethat was in the camptrembled. And Mosesbrought forththe peopleout ofthe campto meetwith God; and they stoodat the nether partof the mount. And mountSinaiwas altogetheron a smoke, becausethe LORDdescendeduponit in fire: and the smokethereof ascendedas the smokeof a furnace, and the wholemountquakedgreatly. And whenthe voiceof the trumpetsounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Mosesspoke, and Godansweredhim by a voice. And the LORDcame downuponmountSinai, onthe topof the mount: and the LORDcalledMoses up tothe topof the mount; and Moseswent up. And the LORDsaiduntoMoses, Go down, chargethe people, lestthey break throughuntothe LORDto gaze, and manyofthem perish. And let the priestsalso, which come neartothe LORD, sanctify themselves, lestthe LORDbreak forthupon them. And Mosessaiduntothe LORD, The peoplecannotcome uptomountSinai: forthouchargedstus, saying, Set boundsabout the mount, and sanctifyit. And the LORDsaiduntohim, Away, get thee down, and thou shalt come up, thou, and Aaronwiththee: but let notthe priestsand the peoplebreak throughto come upuntothe LORD, lesthe break forthupon them. So Moseswent downuntothe people, and spokeuntothem.
