To the chief Musician, A Psalmfor the sonsof Korah. Hearthis, all ye people; give ear, all ye inhabitantsof the world: Bothlowandhigh, richand poor, together. My mouthshall speakof wisdom; and the meditationof my heart shall be of understanding. I will inclinemine earto a parable: I will openmy dark sayingupon the harp. Whereforeshould I fearin the daysof evil, when the iniquityof my heelsshall compass me about? They that trustintheir wealth, and boast themselvesin the multitudeof their riches; None of them can by any meansredeemhis brother, norgiveto Goda ransomfor him: (For the redemptionof their soul is precious, and it ceasethforever:) That he should stillliveforever, and notseecorruption. Forhe seeth that wise mendie, likewisethe fooland the brutish personperish, and leavetheir wealthto others. Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue forever, and their dwelling placesto all generations; they call their landsafter their own names. Nevertheless man being in honorabidethnot: he is likethe beasts that perish. Thistheir way is their folly: yet their posterityapprovetheir sayings. Selah. Like sheepthey are laidin the grave; deathshall feedon them; and the uprightshall have dominionover them in the morning; and their beautyshall consumein the gravefrom their dwelling. ButGodwill redeemmy soulfrom the powerof the grave: forhe shall receiveme. Selah. Be notthou afraidwhenoneis made rich, whenthe gloryof his houseis increased; For whenhe diethhe shall carrynothingaway: his gloryshall notdescendafterhim. Thoughwhile he livedhe blessedhis soul: and men will praisethee, whenthou doest wellto thyself. He shall gotothe generationof his fathers; they shall neverseelight. Man that is in honor, and understandethnot, is likethe beasts that perish.
