To the chief MusicianuponAijelethShahar, A Psalmof David. My God, my God, whyhast thou forsakenme? why art thou so farfrom helpingme, and from the wordsof my roaring? O my God, I cryin the daytime, but thou hearestnot; and in the night season, and am notsilent. But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitestthe praisesof Israel. Our fatherstrustedin thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliverthem. They crieduntothee, and were delivered: they trustedin thee, and were notconfounded. But I am a worm, and noman; a reproachof men, and despisedof the people. Allthey that seeme laughme to scorn: they shoot outthe lip, they shakethe head, saying , He trustedonthe LORD that he would deliverhim: let him deliverhim, seeinghe delightedin him. Butthou art he that tookme out of the womb: thou didst make me hope when I was uponmy mother's breasts. I was castuponthee from the womb: thou art my Godfrom my mother's belly. Be notfarfromme; fortrouble is near; for there is noneto help. Manybullshave compassedme: strong bulls of Bashanhave beset me round. They gapeduponme with their mouths, as a raveningand a roaringlion. I am poured outlike water, and allmy bonesare out of joint: my heartislike wax; it is meltedin the midstof my bowels. My strengthis dried uplike a potsherd; and my tonguecleavethto my jaws; and thou hast broughtme into the dustof death. Fordogshave compassedme: the assemblyof the wickedhave enclosedme: they piercedmy handsand my feet. I may tellallmy bones: theylook and stareupon me. They partmy garmentsamong them, and castlotsuponmy vesture. But be notthoufarfrom me, O LORD: O my strength, hastethee to helpme. Delivermy soulfrom the sword; my darlingfrom the powerof the dog. Saveme from the lion's mouth: for thou hast heardme from the hornsof the unicorns. I will declarethy nameunto my brethren: in the midstof the congregationwill I praisethee. Ye that fearthe LORD, praisehim; allye the seedof Jacob, glorifyhim; and fearhim, allye the seedof Israel. Forhe hath notdespisednorabhorredthe afflictionof the afflicted; neitherhath he hidhis facefromhim; but when he crieduntohim, he heard. My praise shall be ofthee in the greatcongregation: I will paymy vowsbeforethem that fearhim. The meekshall eatand be satisfied: they shall praisethe LORDthat seekhim: your heartshall liveforever. Allthe endsof the worldshall rememberand turnuntothe LORD: and allthe kindredsof the nationsshall worshipbeforethee. Forthe kingdom is the LORD's: and he is the governoramong the nations. All they that be fatupon earthshall eatand worship: allthey that go downto the dustshall bowbeforehim: and nonecan keep alivehis own soul. A seedshall servehim; it shall be accountedto the Lordfor a generation. They shall come, and shall declarehis righteousnessunto a peoplethat shall be born, thathe hath done this .
