A Prayerof David. Hearthe right, O LORDattendunto my cry, give earunto my prayer, that goeth notout of feignedlips. Let my sentencecome forthfrom thy presence; let thine eyesbeholdthe things that are equal. Thou hast provedmine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast triedme, and shalt findnothing; I am purposed that my mouthshall nottransgress. Concerning the worksof men, by the wordof thy lipsIhave kept me from the pathsof the destroyer. Hold upmy goingsin thy paths, that my footstepsslipnot. Ihave called uponthee, forthou wilt hearme, O God: inclinethine earunto me, and hearmy speech. Show thy marvelous lovingkindness, O thou that savestby thy right handthem which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them . Keepme as the appleof the eye, hideme under the shadowof thy wings, Fromthe wickedthatoppressme, from my deadlyenemies, who compass me about. They are enclosed intheir own fat: with their mouththey speakproudly. They have nowcompassedus in our steps: they have settheir eyesbowing downto the earth; Likeas a lion that is greedyof his prey, and as it were a young lionlurkingin secret places. Arise, O LORD, disappointhim, cast him down: delivermy soulfrom the wicked, which is thy sword: From men which are thy hand, O LORD, from menof the world, which have their portionin this life, and whose bellythou fillestwith thy hid treasure : they are fullof children, and leavethe restof their substance to their babes. As for me, I will beholdthy facein righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.
