Now when Solomonhad made an endof praying, the firecame downfrom heaven, and consumedthe burnt offeringand the sacrifices; and the gloryof the LORDfilledthe house. And the priestscouldnotenterintothe houseof the LORD, becausethe gloryof the LORDhad filledthe LORD's house. And when allthe childrenof Israelsawhow the firecame down, and the gloryof the LORDuponthe house, they bowedthemselves with their facesto the grounduponthe pavement, and worshiped, and praisedthe LORD, saying , For he is good; forhis mercy endureth forever. Then the kingand allthe peopleofferedsacrificesbeforethe LORD. And kingSolomonoffereda sacrificeof twentyand twothousandoxen, and a hundredand twentythousandsheep: so the kingand allthe peoplededicatedthe houseof God. And the priestswaitedontheir offices: the Levitesalso with instrumentsof musicof the LORD, whichDavidthe kinghad madeto praisethe LORD, becausehis mercy endureth forever, when Davidpraisedby their ministry; and the priestssoundedtrumpets beforethem, and allIsraelstood. Moreover Solomonhallowedthe middleof the courtthat was beforethe houseof the LORD: fortherehe offeredburnt offerings, and the fatof the peace offerings, becausethe brazenaltarwhichSolomonhad madewas not ableto receivethe burnt offerings, and the meat offerings, and the fat. Also at the sametimeSolomonkeptthe feastsevendays, and allIsraelwithhim, a verygreatcongregation, from the entering inof Hamathuntothe riverof Egypt. And in the eighthdaythey madea solemn assembly: forthey keptthe dedicationof the altarsevendays, and the feastsevendays. And on the threeand twentiethdayof the seventhmonthhe sentthe peopleaway into their tents, gladand merryin heartforthe goodnessthatthe LORDhad showedunto David, and to Solomon, and to Israelhis people. Thus Solomonfinishedthe houseof the LORD, and the king's house: and allthat cameintoSolomon's heartto makein the houseof the LORD, and in his own house, he prosperously effected. And the LORDappearedtoSolomonby night, and saidunto him, I have heardthy prayer, and have chosenthisplaceto myself for a houseof sacrifice. IfI shut upheaventhat there benorain, or ifI commandthe locuststo devourthe land, or ifI sendpestilenceamong my people; If my people, whichare calledby my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seekmy face, and turnfrom their wickedways; then will Ihearfromheaven, and will forgivetheir sin, and will healtheir land. Nowmine eyesshall beopen, and mine earsattentunto the prayer that is made in thisplace. For nowhave I chosenand sanctifiedthishouse, that my namemay bethereforever: and mine eyesand mine heartshall bethereperpetually. And as for thee, ifthou wilt walkbeforeme, asDavidthy fatherwalked, and doaccording to allthatI have commandedthee, and shalt observemy statutesand my judgments; Then will I establishthe throneof thy kingdom, according asI have covenantedwith Davidthy father, saying, There shall notfailthee a man to be rulerin Israel. But ifyeturn away, and forsakemy statutesand my commandments, whichI have setbeforeyou, and shall goand serveothergods, and worshipthem; Then will I pluck them up by the rootsout ofmy landwhichI have giventhem; and thishouse, whichI have sanctifiedfor my name, will I cast outofmy sight, and will makeit to be a proverband a bywordamong allnations. And thishouse, whichishigh, shall be an astonishmentto every onethat passethbyit; so that he shall say, Whyhath the LORDdonethusunto thisland, and unto thishouse? And it shall be answered, Becausethey forsookthe LORDGodof their fathers, whichbrought them forthout of the landof Egypt, and laid holdon othergods, and worshipedthem, and servedthem: thereforehath he broughtallthiseviluponthem.
