And DavidgatheredallIsraeltogether toJerusalem, to bring upthe arkof the LORDuntohis place, whichhe had preparedfor it. And Davidassembledthe childrenof Aaron, and the Levites: Of the sonsof Kohath; Urielthe chief, and his brethrena hundredand twenty: Of the sonsof Merari; Asaiahthe chief, and his brethrentwo hundredand twenty: Of the sonsof Gershom; Joelthe chief, and his brethrena hundredand thirty: Of the sonsof Elizaphan; Shemaiahthe chief, and his brethrentwo hundred: Of the sonsof Hebron; Elielthe chief, and his brethrenfourscore: Of the sonsof Uzziel; Amminadabthe chief, and his brethrena hundredand twelve. And Davidcalledfor Zadokand Abiatharthe priests, and for the Levites, for Uriel, Asaiah, and Joel, Shemaiah, and Eliel, and Amminadab, And saidunto them, Ye are the chiefof the fathersof the Levites: sanctify yourselves, both yeand your brethren, that ye may bring upthe arkof the LORDGodof Israelunto the place that I have preparedfor it. For becauseye did it notat the first, the LORDour Godmade a breachupon us, forthat we soughthim notafter the due order. So the priestsand the Levitessanctified themselvesto bring upthe arkof the LORDGodof Israel. And the childrenof the Levitesborethe arkof Godupon their shoulderswith the stavesthereon, asMosescommandedaccording to the wordof the LORD. And Davidspoketo the chiefof the Levitesto appointtheir brethren to be the singerswith instrumentsof music, psalteriesand harpsand cymbals, sounding, by lifting upthe voicewith joy. So the LevitesappointedHemanthe sonof Joel; and ofhis brethren, Asaphthe sonof Berechiah; and ofthe sonsof Meraritheir brethren, Ethanthe sonof Kushaiah; And withthem their brethrenof the second degree , Zechariah, Ben, and Jaaziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, Eliab, and Benaiah, and Maaseiah, and Mattithiah, and Elipheleh, and Mikneiah, and Obed-edom, and Jeiel, the porters. So the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were appointed to soundwith cymbalsof brass; And Zechariah, and Aziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, and Eliab, and Maaseiah, and Benaiah, with psalteriesonAlamoth; And Mattithiah, and Elipheleh, and Mikneiah, and Obed-edom, and Jeiel, and Azaziah, with harpsonthe Sheminithto excel. And Chenaniah, chiefof the Levites, was for song: he instructedabout the song, becausehe was skillful. And Berechiahand Elkanah were doorkeepersfor the ark. And Shebaniah, and Jehoshaphat, and Nethaneel, and Amasai, and Zechariah, and Benaiah, and Eliezer, the priests, did blowwith the trumpetsbeforethe arkof God: and Obed-edom and Jehiah were doorkeepersfor the ark. SoDavid, and the eldersof Israel, and the captainsover thousands, wentto bring upthe arkof the covenantof the LORDout ofthe houseof Obed-edom with joy. And it came to pass, when Godhelpedthe Levitesthat borethe arkof the covenantof the LORD, that they offeredsevenbullocksand sevenrams. And David was clothedwith a robeof fine linen, and allthe Levitesthat borethe ark, and the singers, and Chenaniahthe masterof the songwith the singers: Davidalso had upon him an ephodof linen. Thus allIsraelbrought upthe arkof the covenantof the LORDwith shouting, and with soundof the cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, making a noisewith psalteriesand harps. And it came to pass, as the arkof the covenantof the LORDcametothe cityof David, that Michalthe daughterof Saullooking outata windowsawkingDaviddancingand playing: and she despisedhim in her heart.
