And they continuedthreeyearswithoutwarbetweenSyriaand Israel. And it came to passin the thirdyear, that Jehoshaphatthe kingof Judahcame downtothe kingof Israel. And the kingof Israelsaiduntohis servants, Knowye thatRamoth in Gilead is ours, and we be still, and takeit not out of the handof the kingof Syria? And he saiduntoJehoshaphat, Wilt thou gowithme to battleto Ramoth-gilead? And Jehoshaphatsaidtothe kingof Israel, I am as thou art , my peopleas thy people, my horsesas thy horses. And Jehoshaphatsaiduntothe kingof Israel, Inquire, I pray thee, at the wordof the LORDtoday. Then the kingof Israelgathered the prophets together, about fourhundredmen, and saiduntothem, Shall I goagainstRamoth-gilead to battle, orshall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for the Lordshall deliver it into the handof the king. And Jehoshaphatsaid, Is there notherea prophetof the LORDbesides, that we might inquireofhim? And the kingof IsraelsaiduntoJehoshaphat, There is yetoneman, Micaiahthe sonof Imlah, bywhom we may inquireof the LORD: but Ihatehim; forhe doth notprophesygoodconcerningme, butevil. And Jehoshaphatsaid, Let notthe kingsayso. Then the kingof Israelcalledanofficer, and said, Hasten hither Micaiahthe sonof Imlah. And the kingof Israeland Jehoshaphatthe kingof Judahsateachonhis throne, having put ontheir robes, in a void placein the entranceof the gateof Samaria; and allthe prophetsprophesiedbeforethem. And Zedekiahthe sonof Chenaanahmadehim hornsof iron: and he said, Thussaiththe LORD, With theseshalt thou pushthe Syrians, untilthou have consumedthem. And allthe prophetsprophesiedso, saying, Go upto Ramoth-gilead, and prosper: for the LORDshall deliver it into the king's hand. And the messengerthatwas goneto callMicaiahspokeuntohim, saying, Beholdnow, the wordsof the prophets declare gooduntothe kingwith onemouth: let thy word, I pray thee, belike the wordof oneof them, and speak that which is good. And Micaiahsaid, As the LORDliveth, whatthe LORDsaithuntome, that will I speak. So he cametothe king. And the kingsaiduntohim, Micaiah, shall we goagainstRamoth-gilead to battle, orshall we forbear? And he answeredhim, Go, and prosper: for the LORDshall deliver it into the handof the king. And the kingsaiduntohim, Howmanytimesshall Iadjurethee thatthou tellme nothingbut that which is truein the nameof the LORD? And he said, I sawallIsraelscattereduponthe hills, as sheepthathave nota shepherd: and the LORDsaid, Thesehave nomaster: let them returnevery manto his housein peace. And the kingof IsraelsaiduntoJehoshaphat, Did I nottellthee that he would prophesynogoodconcerningme, butevil? And he said, Hearthou thereforethe wordof the LORD: I sawthe LORDsittingonhis throne, and allthe hostof heavenstandingbyhim on his right handand on his left. And the LORDsaid, Whoshall persuadeAhab, that he may go upand fallat Ramoth-gilead? And onesaidon this manner, and anothersaidon that manner. And there came fortha spirit, and stoodbeforethe LORD, and said, Iwill persuadehim. And the LORDsaiduntohim, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I will bea lyingspiritin the mouthof allhis prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade him , and prevailalso: go forth, and doso. Nowtherefore, behold, the LORDhath puta lyingspiritin the mouthof allthesethy prophets, and the LORDhath spokenevilconcerningthee. But Zedekiahthe sonof Chenaanahwent near, and smoteMicaiahonthe cheek, and said, Whichwaywentthe Spiritof the LORDfromme to speakuntothee? And Micaiahsaid, Behold, thou shalt seein thatday, whenthou shalt go intoan innerchamberto hide thyself. And the kingof Israelsaid, TakeMicaiah, and carry him backuntoAmonthe governorof the city, and toJoashthe king's son; And say, Thussaiththe king, Putthis fellow in the prison, and feedhim with breadof afflictionand with waterof affliction, untilI comein peace. And Micaiahsaid, Ifthou return at allin peace, the LORDhath notspokenby me. And he said, Hearken, O people, everyone of you. So the kingof Israeland Jehoshaphatthe kingof Judahwent upto Ramoth-gilead. And the kingof IsraelsaiduntoJehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, and enterinto the battle; but putthouon thy robes. And the kingof Israeldisguised himself, and wentinto the battle. But the kingof Syriacommandedhisthirtyand twocaptains that had rule overhischariots, saying, Fightneitherwithsmallnor great, saveonlywiththe kingof Israel. And it came to pass, when the captainsof the chariotssawJehoshaphat, that theysaid, Surelyit is the kingof Israel. And they turned asideto fightagainsthim: and Jehoshaphatcried out. And it came to pass, when the captainsof the chariotsperceivedthatit was notthe kingof Israel, that they turned backfrom pursuinghim. And a certain mandrewa bowat a venture, and smotethe kingof Israelbetweenthe jointsof the harness: wherefore he saidunto the driver of his chariot, Turnthine hand, and carry me outofthe host; forI am wounded. And the battleincreasedthatday: and the kingwasstayed upin his chariotagainstthe Syrians, and diedat even: and the bloodran outof the woundintothe midstof the chariot. And there wenta proclamationthroughout the hostabout the going downof the sun, saying, Every mantohis city, and every mantohis own country. So the kingdied, and was broughtto Samaria; and they buriedthe kingin Samaria. And one washedthe chariotinthe poolof Samaria; and the dogslicked uphis blood; and they washedhis armor; according unto the wordof the LORDwhichhe spoke. Now the restof the actsof Ahab, and allthathe did, and the ivoryhousewhichhe made, and allthe citiesthathe built, are theynotwritteninthe bookof the chroniclesof the kingsof Israel?
