And he laid him downuponhis bed, and turned awayhis face, and would eatnobread. But Jezebelhis wifecametohim, and saiduntohim, Whyis thy spiritso sad, that thou eatestnobread? And he saiduntoher, BecauseI spokeuntoNaboththe Jezreelite, and saidunto him, Giveme thy vineyardfor money; orelse, ifit pleasethee, I will givethee another vineyardforit: and he answered, I will notgivethee my vineyard. So she wrotelettersin Ahab's name, and sealed them with his seal, and sentthe lettersuntothe eldersand tothe noblesthat were in his city, dwellingwithNaboth. And she wrotein the letters, saying, Proclaima fast, and setNabothon highamong the people: And settwomen, sonsof Belial, beforehim, to bear witness againsthim, saying, Thou didst blasphemeGodand the king. And then carry him out, and stonehim, that he may die. And the menof his city, even the eldersand the nobleswhowere the inhabitantsin his city, didasJezebelhad sentuntothem, and asit was writtenin the letterswhichshe had sentuntothem. And it came to pass, when AhabheardthatNabothwas dead, that Ahabrose upto go downtothe vineyardof Naboththe Jezreelite, to take possessionof it. And the wordof the LORDcametoElijahthe Tishbite, saying, Arise, go downto meetAhabkingof Israel, which is in Samaria: behold, he is in the vineyardof Naboth, whitherhe is gone downto possessit. And thou shalt speakuntohim, saying, Thussaiththe LORD, Hast thou killed, and alsotaken possession? And thou shalt speakuntohim, saying, Thussaiththe LORD, In the placewheredogslickedthe bloodof Nabothshall dogslickthy blood, eventhine. And AhabsaidtoElijah, Hast thou foundme, O mine enemy? And he answered, I have found thee : becausethou hast soldthyself to workevilin the sightof the LORD. Behold, I will bringeviluponthee, and will take awaythy posterity, and will cut offfrom Ahabhim that pissethagainst the wall, and him that is shut upand leftin Israel, And will makethine houselike the houseof Jeroboamthe sonof Nebat, and like the houseof Baashathe sonof Ahijah, forthe provocationwherewiththou hast provoked me to anger, and made Israel to sin. And of Jezebelalsospokethe LORD, saying, The dogsshall eatJezebelby the wallof Jezreel. Him that diethof Ahabin the citythe dogsshall eat; and him that diethin the fieldshall the fowlsof the aireat. Butthere wasnonelike unto Ahab, whichdid sell himselfto workwickednessin the sightof the LORD, whomJezebelhis wifestirred up. And he did veryabominablyin followingidols, according to all things asdidthe Amorites, whomthe LORDcast outbeforethe childrenof Israel. And it came to pass, when Ahabheardthosewords, that he renthis clothes, and putsackclothuponhis flesh, and fasted, and layin sackcloth, and wentsoftly. And the wordof the LORDcametoElijahthe Tishbite, saying, Seestthou howAhabhumbleth himselfbeforeme? becausehe humbleth himselfbeforeme, I will notbringthe evilin his days: but in his son's dayswill I bringthe eviluponhis house.
