And it came to passafterthesethings, that one toldJoseph, Behold, thy father is sick: and he tookwithhim his twosons, Manassehand Ephraim. And one toldJacob, and said, Behold, thy sonJosephcomethuntothee: and Israelstrengthened himself, and satuponthe bed. And JacobsaiduntoJoseph, GodAlmightyappeareduntome at Luzin the landof Canaan, and blessedme, And saiduntome, Behold, I will make thee fruitful, and multiplythee, and I will makeof thee a multitudeof people; and will givethislandto thy seedafterthee for an everlastingpossession. And nowthy twosons, Ephraimand Manasseh, which were bornunto thee in the landof EgyptbeforeI cameuntothee into Egypt, are mine; as Reubenand Simeon, they shall bemine. And thy issue, whichthou begettestafterthem, shall bethine, and shall be calledafterthe nameof their brethrenin their inheritance. And as for me, when I camefrom Padan, Racheldiedbyme in the landof Canaanin the way, when yet there was but a littlewayto comeunto Ephrath: and I buriedher therein the wayof Ephrath; the same is Bethlehem. And IsraelbeheldJoseph's sons, and said, Who are these? And Josephsaiduntohis father, They are my sons, whomGodhath givenme in this place . And he said, Bringthem, I pray thee, untome, and I will blessthem. Now the eyesof Israelwere dimfor age, so that he couldnotsee. And he brought them nearuntohim; and he kissedthem, and embracedthem. And IsraelsaiduntoJoseph, I had notthoughtto seethy face: and, lo, Godhath showedme alsothy seed. And Josephbrought them outfrom betweenhis knees, and he bowed himselfwith his faceto the earth. And Josephtookthem both, Ephraimin his right handtoward Israel's left hand, and Manassehin his left handtoward Israel's right hand, and brought them nearuntohim. And Israelstretched outhis right hand, and laid it uponEphraim's head, who was the younger, and his left handuponManasseh's head, guiding his hands wittingly; forManasseh was the firstborn. And he blessedJoseph, and said, God, beforewhommy fathersAbrahamand Isaacdid walk, the Godwhich fedme all my life longuntothisday, The Angelwhich redeemedme from allevil, blessthe lads; and let my namebe namedon them, and the nameof my fathersAbrahamand Isaac; and let them growinto a multitudein the midstof the earth. And when Josephsawthathis fatherlaidhis righthanduponthe headof Ephraim, it displeasedhim: and he held uphis father's hand, to removeit fromEphraim's headuntoManasseh's head. And Josephsaiduntohis father, Notso, my father: forthis is the firstborn; putthy right handuponhis head. And his fatherrefused, and said, I know it , my son, I know it : healsoshall becomea people, and healsoshall be great: but trulyhis youngerbrothershall be greaterthanhe, and his seedshall becomea multitudeof nations. And he blessedthem thatday, saying, In thee shall Israelbless, saying, Godmakethee as Ephraimand as Manasseh: and he setEphraimbeforeManasseh. And IsraelsaiduntoJoseph, Behold, Idie: but Godshall bewithyou, and bring you againuntothe landof your fathers. Moreover Ihave givento thee oneportionabovethy brethren, whichI tookout of the handof the Amoritewith my swordand with my bow.
