And the sonsof JacobansweredShechemand Hamorhis fatherdeceitfully, and said, becausehe had defiledDinahtheir sister: And they saiduntothem, We cannotdothisthing, to giveour sisterto onethatis uncircumcised; forthat were a reproachunto us: Butin thiswill we consentunto you: Ifye will beas we be , that everymaleof you be circumcised; Then will we giveour daughtersunto you, and we will takeyour daughtersto us, and we will dwellwithyou, and we will becomeonepeople. And it came to passon the thirdday, when they weresore, that twoof the sonsof Jacob, Simeonand Levi, Dinah's brethren, tookeach manhis sword, and cameuponthe cityboldly, and slewallthe males. And they slewHamorand Shechemhis sonwith the edgeof the sword, and tookDinahout of Shechem's house, and went out. The sonsof Jacobcameuponthe slain, and spoiledthe city, becausethey had defiledtheir sister. They tooktheir sheep, and their oxen, and their asses, and that which was in the city, and that which was in the field, And alltheir wealth, and alltheir little ones, and their wivestook they captive, and spoiledeven allthat was in the house. And JacobsaidtoSimeonand Levi, Ye have troubledme to make me to stinkamong the inhabitantsof the land, among the Canaanitesand the Perizzites: and I being fewin number, they shall gather themselves togetheragainstme, and slayme; and I shall be destroyed, Iand my house.
