And Abrahamjourneyedfrom thencetoward the southcountry, and dwelledbetweenKadeshand Shur, and sojournedin Gerar. And AbrahamsaidofSarahhis wife, She is my sister: and Abimelechkingof Gerarsent, and tookSarah. But GodcametoAbimelechin a dreamby night, and saidto him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, forthe womanwhichthou hast taken; for she is a man's wife. But Abimelechhad notcome nearher: and he said, Lord, wilt thou slayalsoa righteousnation? Saidhenotunto me, She is my sister? and she, evenshe herselfsaid, He is my brother: in the integrityof my heartand innocencyof my handshave I donethis. And Godsaiduntohim in a dream, Yea, Iknowthatthou didstthisin the integrityof thy heart; for Ialsowithheldthee from sinningagainst me: thereforesufferedI thee notto touchher. Nowtherefore restorethe man his wife; forhe is a prophet, and he shall prayforthee, and thou shalt live: and ifthou restore her not, knowthou thatthou shalt surely die, thou, and allthat are thine. Therefore Abimelechrose earlyin the morning, and calledallhis servants, and toldallthesethingsin their ears: and the menwere sore afraid. Then AbimelechcalledAbraham, and saidunto him, Whathast thou doneunto us? and whathave I offendedthee, thatthou hast broughtonme and onmy kingdoma greatsin? thou hast donedeedsuntome thatought notto be done. And AbimelechsaiduntoAbraham, Whatsawestthou, thatthou hast donethisthing? And Abrahamsaid, BecauseI thought, Surelythe fearof God is notin thisplace; and they will slayme formy wife's sake. And yetindeed she is my sister; she is the daughterof my father, butnotthe daughterof my mother; and she becamemy wife. And it came to pass, whenGodcaused me to wanderfrom my father's house, that I saidunto her, This is thy kindnesswhichthou shalt showuntome; ateveryplacewhitherwe shall come, sayof me, He is my brother. And Abimelechtooksheep, and oxen, and menservants, and womenservants, and gave them unto Abraham, and restoredhim Sarahhis wife. And Abimelechsaid, Behold, my land is beforethee: dwellwhere it pleaseththee. And unto Sarahhe said, Behold, I have giventhy brothera thousand pieces of silver: behold, he is to thee a coveringof the eyes, unto allthat are withthee, and withall other : thus she was reproved. So AbrahamprayeduntoGod: and GodhealedAbimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bore children . Forthe LORDhad fast closed upallthe wombsof the houseof Abimelech, becauseof SarahAbraham's wife.
