Andhe went outfrom thence, andcameintohis owncountry; andhisdisciplesfollowhim. Andwhen the sabbath daywas come, he beganto teachinthesynagogue: andmanyhearing him were astonished, saying, From whencehath this man these things? andwhatwisdom is this which is givenunto him, thatevensuchmighty worksare wroughtbyhishands? Isnotthisthecarpenter, thesonof Mary, thebrotherof James, andJoses, andof Juda, andSimon? andarenothissistersherewithus? Andthey were offendedathim. ButJesussaidunto them, A prophetisnot without honor, butin his owncountry, andamong his own kin, andin his ownhouse. Andhe couldtheredonomighty work, save thathe laid his hands upona fewsick folk, and healed them. Andhe marveledbecauseof theirunbelief. Andhe wentround aboutthevillages, teaching. Andhe called unto him thetwelve, andbeganto send them forthby two and two; andgavethempowerover uncleanspirits; Andcommandedthemthatthey should takenothingfor their journey, savea staffonly; noscrip, nobread, nomoneyin their purse; But be shodwith sandals; andnotput ontwocoats. Andhe saidunto them, In what place soever ye enterinto a house, thereabidetill ye depart from that place. Andwhosoever shall notreceiveyou, norhearyou, when ye departthence, shake offthedustunderyourfeetfor a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for SodomandGomorrahin the day of judgment, than for thatcity. Andthey went out, and preachedthatmen should repent. Andthey cast outmanydevils, andanointedwith oilmanythat were sick, andhealed them. AndkingHerodheard of him ; ( forhisnamewas spread abroad:) andhe said, ThatJohntheBaptistwas risenfromthe dead, andthereforemighty worksdo show forththemselves inhim. Otherssaid, Thatit isElijah. Andotherssaid, Thatit isa prophet, orasoneof theprophets. Butwhen Herodheard thereof, he said, ItisJohn, whomIbeheaded: heis risenfromthe dead. ForHerodhimselfhad sent forthandlaid hold uponJohn, andboundhiminprisonfor Herodias' sake, hisbrotherPhilip's wife: forhe had marriedher. ForJohnhad saidunto Herod, It is not lawfulfor theeto havethybrother's wife. ThereforeHerodiashad a quarrel againsthim, andwouldhave killedhim; butshe couldnot: ForHerodfearedJohn, knowingthat hewas a justmananda holy, andobservedhim; andwhen he heardhim, he didmany things, andheardhimgladly. Andwhen a convenientdaywas come, thatHerodon hisbirthdaymadea supperto hislords, high captains, andchief estates of Galilee; Andthedaughterof the saidHerodiascame in, anddanced, andpleasedHerodandthem that sat withhim, thekingsaidunto thedamsel, Askof mewhatsoeverthou wilt, andI will give it thee. Andhe sworeunto her, Whatsoeverthou shalt askof me, I will give it thee, untothe halfof mykingdom. Andshewent forth, and saidunto hermother, Whatshall I ask? Andshesaid, Theheadof JohntheBaptist. Andshe came instraightwaywithhasteuntotheking, and asked, saying, I willthatthou givemeby and byina chargertheheadof JohntheBaptist. Andthekingwasexceeding sorry; yet for his oath's sake, andfor their sakes which sat withhim, he wouldnotrejecther. Andimmediatelythekingsentan executioner, and commandedhisheadto be brought: andhewentand beheadedhimintheprison, Andbroughthisheadina charger, andgaveitto thedamsel: andthedamselgaveitto hermother. Andwhen hisdisciplesheard of it, they cameandtook uphiscorpse, andlaiditina tomb. Andtheapostlesgathered themselves togetheruntoJesus, andtoldhimall things, bothwhatthey had done, andwhatthey had taught. Andhe saidunto them, Comeyeyourselvesapartinto a desertplace, andrest a while: forthere weremanycomingandgoing, andthey had no leisure so much asto eat. Andthey departedintoa desertplaceby shipprivately. Andthepeoplesawthemdeparting, andmanyknewhim, andranafootthitherout ofallcities, andoutwentthem, andcame togetheruntohim. AndJesus, when he came out, sawmuchpeople, andwas moved with compassiontowardthem, becausethey wereassheepnothavinga shepherd: andhe beganto teachthemmany things. Andwhen the day was now far spent, hisdisciplescameunto him, and said, This isa desertplace, andnowthe time is far passed: Send them away, thatthey may gointothecountryround about, andinto the villages, and buythemselvesbread: forthey havenothingto eat. Heansweredand saidunto them, Giveyethem to eat. Andtheysayunto him, Shall we goand buytwo hundredpennyworthof bread, andgivethemto eat? Hesaithunto them, How manyloaveshave ye? goandsee. Andwhen they knew, they say, Five, andtwofishes. Andhe commandedthemto make all sit downby companiesuponthegreengrass. Andthey sat downin ranks, by hundreds, andby fifties. Andwhen he had takenthefiveloavesandthetwofishes, he looked uptoheaven, and blessed, andbroketheloaves, andgave them to hisdisciplestoset beforethem; andthetwofishesdividedhe among them all. Andthey did alleat, andwere filled. Andthey took uptwelvebasketsfullof the fragments, andofthefishes. Andthey that did eatof theloaveswereaboutfive thousandmen. Andstraightwayhe constrainedhisdisciplesto getintotheship, andto go to the other sidebeforeunto Bethsaida, whilehesent awaythepeople. Andwhen he had sent them away, he departedintoa mountainto pray. Andwhen evenwas come, theshipwasinthe midstof thesea, andhealoneontheland. Andhe sawthemtoilingin rowing; forthewindwascontraryunto them: andaboutthe fourthwatchof thenighthe comethuntothem, walkinguponthesea, andwouldhave passed bythem. Butwhen theysawhimwalkinguponthesea, they supposedit had beena spirit, andcried out: Forthey allsawhim, andwere troubled. Andimmediatelyhe talkedwiththem, andsaithunto them, Be of good cheer: it isI; be not afraid. Andhe went upuntothemintotheship; andthewindceased: andthey were soreamazedinthemselvesbeyondmeasure, andwondered. Forthey considerednot the miracle oftheloaves: fortheirheartwashardened. Andwhen they had passed over, they cameintothelandof Gennesaret, anddrew to the shore. Andwhen theywere comeout oftheship, straightwaythey knewhim, And ran throughthatwholeregion round about, and beganto carry aboutinbedsthose that were sick, wherethey heardhewas. Andwhithersoeverhe entered, intovillages, orcities, orcountry, they laidthesickinthestreets, andbesoughthimthatthey might touchif it were buttheborderof hisgarment: andas many astouchedhimwere made whole.
