Against Moabthussaiththe LORDof hosts, the Godof Israel; WoeuntoNebo! forit is spoiled: Kiriathaimis confounded and taken: Misgabis confoundedand dismayed. There shall be nomorepraiseof Moab: in Heshbonthey have devisedevilagainstit; come, and let us cut it offfrom being a nation. Alsothou shalt be cut down, O Madmen; the swordshall pursuethee. A voiceof crying shall be from Horonaim, spoilingand greatdestruction. Moabis destroyed; her little oneshave caused a cryto be heard. Forin the going upof Luhithcontinual weepingshall go up; forin the going downof Horonaimthe enemieshave hearda cryof destruction. Flee, saveyour lives, and belike the heathin the wilderness. Forbecausethou hast trustedin thy worksand in thy treasures, thoushalt alsobe taken: and Chemoshshall go forthinto captivity with his priestsand his princestogether. And the spoilershall comeuponeverycity, and nocityshall escape: the valleyalso shall perish, and the plainshall be destroyed, asthe LORDhath spoken. Givewingsunto Moab, thatit may fleeand get away: for the citiesthereof shall bedesolate, without anyto dwelltherein. Cursed be he that doeththe workof the LORDdeceitfully, and cursed be he that keepeth backhis swordfrom blood. Moabhath been at easefrom his youth, and hehath settledonhis lees, and hath notbeen emptiedfrom vesseltovessel, neitherhath he goneinto captivity: thereforehis tasteremainedin him, and his scentis notchanged. Therefore, behold, the dayscome, saiththe LORD, that I will sendunto him wanderers, that shall cause him to wander, and shall emptyhis vessels, and breaktheir bottles. And Moabshall be ashamedof Chemosh, asthe houseof Israelwas ashamedof Betheltheir confidence. Howsayye, We are mightyand strongmenfor the war? Moabis spoiled, and gone up out of her cities, and his chosenyoung menare gone downto the slaughter, saiththe King, whose name is the LORDof hosts. The calamityof Moab is nearto come, and his afflictionhastethfast. Allye that are abouthim, bemoanhim; and allye that knowhis name, say, Howis the strongstaffbroken, and the beautifulrod! Thou daughterthat dost inhabitDibon, come downfrom thy glory, and sitin thirst; forthe spoilerof Moabshall comeupon thee, and he shall destroythy strongholds. O inhabitantof Aroer, standbythe way, and espy; askhim that fleeth, and her that escapeth, and say, Whatisdone? Moabis confounded; forit is broken down: howland cry; tellye it in Arnon, thatMoabis spoiled, And judgmentis comeuponthe plaincountry; uponHolon, and uponJahazah, and uponMephaath, And uponDibon, and uponNebo, and uponBeth-diblathaim, And uponKiriathaim, and uponBeth-gamul, and uponBethmeon, And uponKerioth, and uponBozrah, and uponallthe citiesof the landof Moab, faror near. The hornof Moabis cut off, and his armis broken, saiththe LORD. Make ye him drunken: forhe magnified himself againstthe LORD: Moabalso shall wallowin his vomit, and healsoshall bein derision. ForwasnotIsraela derisionunto thee? was he foundamong thieves? forsincethou spakestof him, thou skippedst for joy. O ye that dwellin Moab, leavethe cities, and dwellin the rock, and belike the dove that maketh her nestin the sidesof the hole's mouth. We have heardthe prideof Moab, (he is exceedingproud) his loftiness, and his arrogance, and his pride, and the haughtinessof his heart. Iknowhis wrath, saiththe LORD; but it shall not be so; his liesshall notsoeffect it . Thereforewill I howlforMoab, and I will cry outfor allMoab; mine heart shall mournforthe menof Kir-heres. O vineof Sibmah, I will weepfor thee with the weepingof Jazer: thy plantsare gone overthe sea, they reach even tothe seaof Jazer: the spoileris fallenuponthy summer fruitsand uponthy vintage. And joyand gladnessis takenfrom the plentiful field, and from the landof Moab; and I have caused wineto failfrom the winepresses: noneshall treadwith shouting; their shouting shall be noshouting. From the cryof Heshbon even untoElealeh, and even untoJahaz, have they utteredtheir voice, from Zoar even untoHoronaim, as a heiferof three years old: forthe watersalsoof Nimrimshall bedesolate. Moreover I will cause to ceasein Moab, saiththe LORD, him that offerethin the high places, and him that burneth incenseto his gods. Thereforemine heartshall soundfor Moablike pipes, and mine heartshall soundlike pipesforthe menof Kir-heres: becausethe riches that he hath gottenare perished. Foreveryhead shall be bald, and everybeardclipped: uponallthe hands shall be cuttings, and uponthe loinssackcloth. There shall be lamentationgenerallyuponallthe housetopsof Moab, and in the streetsthereof: forI have brokenMoablike a vesselwherein is nopleasure, saiththe LORD. They shall howl, saying , Howis it broken down! howhath Moabturnedthe backwith shame! so shall Moabbea derisionand a dismayingto allthem abouthim. Forthussaiththe LORD; Behold, he shall flyas an eagle, and shall spreadhis wingsoverMoab. Keriothis taken, and the strongholdsare surprised, and the mighty men's heartsin Moabat thatdayshall beas the heartof a womanin her pangs. And Moabshall be destroyedfrom being a people, becausehe hath magnified himself againstthe LORD. Fear, and the pit, and the snare, shall be uponthee, O inhabitantof Moab, saiththe LORD. He that fleethfromthe fearshall fallintothe pit; and he that getteth upout ofthe pitshall be takenin the snare: forI will bringuponit, even uponMoab, the yearof their visitation, saiththe LORD. They that fledstoodunder the shadowof Heshbonbecause of the force: buta fireshall come forthout of Heshbon, and a flamefrom the midstof Sihon, and shall devourthe cornerof Moab, and the crown of the headof the tumultuousones. Woebe unto thee, O Moab! the peopleof Chemoshperisheth: forthy sonsare takencaptives, and thy daughterscaptives. Yet will I bring againthe captivityof Moabin the latterdays, saiththe LORD. Thusfar is the judgmentof Moab.
