Inthosedaysthe multitudebeingvery great, andhavingnothingto eat, Jesuscalledhisdisciples unto him, andsaithunto them, I have compassiononthemultitude, because they have nowbeen with methreedays, andhavenothing to eat: Andif I send them awayfastingto their ownhouses, they will faintbytheway: fordivers of themcame from far. Andhisdisciplesansweredhim, From whencecana mansatisfythese men with breadhereinthe wilderness? Andhe askedthem, How manyloaveshave ye? Andtheysaid, Seven. Andhe commandedthepeopleto sit downontheground: andhe tookthesevenloaves, and gave thanks, and broke, andgaveto hisdisciplestoset before them ; andthey did set them beforethepeople. Andthey hada fewsmall fishes: andhe blessed, and commandedto set them also before them. Sothey did eat, andwere filled: andthey took upof the broken meat that was leftsevenbaskets. Andthey that had eatenwereaboutfour thousand: andhe sent them away. Andstraightwayhe enteredintoa shipwithhisdisciples, and cameintothepartsof Dalmanutha. AndthePhariseescame forth, andbeganto question withhim, seekingofhima signfromheaven, temptinghim. Andhe sighed deeplyin hisspirit, andsaith, Why doth thisgeneration seek after a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto thisgeneration. Andhe leftthem, and enteringintotheshipagaindepartedtotheother side. Now the disciples had forgottento takebread, neitherhadthey intheshipwiththemmore thanoneloaf. Andhe chargedthem, saying, Take heed, bewareoftheleaven of thePharisees, and of theleaven of Herod. Andthey reasonedamong themselves, saying, It is becausewe havenobread. Andwhen Jesusknew it, he saithunto them, Whyreason ye, because ye havenobread? perceive ye not yet, neitherunderstand? have ye yourheartyethardened? Havingeyes, see ye not? andhavingears, hear ye not? and do ye notremember? When I brokethefiveloavesamong five thousand, how manybasketsfull of fragments took ye up? They sayunto him, Twelve. Andwhenthesevenamong four thousand, how manybasketsfull of fragments took ye up? Andtheysaid, Seven. Andhe saidunto them, How is it that ye do notunderstand? Andhe comethtoBethsaida: andthey bringa blind manunto him, andbesoughthimtotouchhim. Andhe tooktheblind manby thehand, and ledhimoutof thetown; andwhen he had spitonhiseyes, and put his hands uponhim, he askedhimif he saw aught. Andhe looked up, and said, I seemenastrees, walking. After thathe put his handsagainuponhiseyes, andmadehimlook up: andhe was restored, andsawevery manclearly. Andhe sent him awaytohishouse, saying, Neithergointothetown, nortell it to anyinthetown. AndJesuswent out, andhisdisciples, intothetownsof CaesareaPhilippi: andbythewayhe askedhisdisciples, sayingunto them, Whom do mensay that Iam? Andtheyanswered, JohntheBaptist: butsome say, Elijah; andothers, Oneof theprophets. Andhesaithunto them, Butwhomsayye that I am? AndPeteranswerethand saithunto him, ThouarttheChrist. Andhe chargedthemthatthey should tellno manofhim. Andhe beganto teachthem, thattheSonof manmustsuffermany things, andbe rejectedoftheelders, and of the chief priests, andscribes, andbe killed, andafterthreedaysrise again. Andhe spakethat sayingopenly. AndPetertookhim, and beganto rebukehim. Butwhen hehad turned aboutandlooked onhisdisciples, he rebukedPeter, saying, Get thee behindme, Satan: for thou savorestnot the things that be of God, but the things that be of men. Andwhen he had calledthepeople unto him withhisdisciplesalso, he saidunto them, Whosoeverwillcomeafterme, let him denyhimself, and take uphiscross, andfollowme. Forwhosoeverwillsavehislife shall loseit; butwhosoever shall losehislife for my sakeandthegospel's, the same shall saveit. Forwhat shall it profit a man, if he shall gainthewholeworld, andlose his ownsoul? Orwhat shall a mangive in exchange for hissoul? Whosoevertherefore shall be ashamed of meand of mywordsinthisadulterousandsinfulgeneration; of himalso shall theSon of man be ashamed, when he comethintheglory of hisFatherwiththeholyangels.
