Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O nationnotdesired; Beforethe decreebring forth, before the daypassas the chaff, beforethe fierceangerof the LORDcomeuponyou, beforethe dayof the LORD's angercomeuponyou. Seekye the LORD, allye meekof the earth, whichhave wroughthis judgment; seekrighteousness, seekmeekness: it may beye shall be hidin the dayof the LORD's anger. ForGazashall beforsaken, and Ashkelona desolation: they shall drive outAshdodat the noon day, and Ekronshall be rooted up. Woeunto the inhabitantsof the seacoast, the nationof the Cherethites! the wordof the LORD is againstyou; O Canaan, the landof the Philistines, I will even destroythee, that there shall be noinhabitant. And the seacoastshall bedwellings and cottagesfor shepherds, and foldsfor flocks. And the coastshall befor the remnantof the houseof Judah; they shall feedthereupon: in the housesof Ashkelonshall they lie downin the evening: forthe LORDtheir Godshall visitthem, and turn awaytheir captivity. I have heardthe reproachof Moab, and the revilingsof the childrenof Ammon, wherebythey have reproachedmy people, and magnified themselves againsttheir border. Therefore as Ilive, saiththe LORDof hosts, the Godof Israel, SurelyMoabshall beas Sodom, and the childrenof Ammonas Gomorrah, even the breedingof nettles, and saltpits, and a perpetualdesolation: the residueof my peopleshall spoilthem, and the remnantof my peopleshall possessthem. Thisshall they have fortheir pride, becausethey have reproachedand magnified themselves againstthe peopleof the LORDof hosts. The LORD will be terribleuntothem: forhe will famishallthe godsof the earth; and men shall worshiphim, every onefrom his place, even allthe islesof the heathen. YeEthiopiansalso, ye shall be slainby my sword. And he will stretch outhis handagainstthe north, and destroyAssyria; and will makeNineveha desolation, and drylike a wilderness. And flocksshall lie downin the midstof her, allthe beastsof the nations: boththe cormorantandthe bitternshall lodgein the upper lintelsof it; their voiceshall singin the windows; desolation shall be in the thresholds: forhe shall uncoverthe cedar work. This is the rejoicingcitythat dweltcarelessly, that saidin her heart, I am , and there is nonebesideme: howis she becomea desolation, a place for beaststo lie downin! every onethat passethbyher shall hiss, and waghis hand.
