A prayerof Habakkukthe prophetuponShigionoth. O LORD, I have heardthy speech, and was afraid: O LORD, revivethy workin the midstof the years, in the midstof the yearsmake known; in wrathremembermercy. Godcamefrom Teman, and the Holy Onefrom mountParan. Selah. His glorycoveredthe heavens, and the earthwas fullof his praise. And his brightnesswasas the light; he had horns coming out of his hand: and there was the hidingof his power. Beforehim wentthe pestilence, and burning coalswent forthat his feet. He stood, and measuredthe earth: he beheld, and drove asunderthe nations; and the everlastingmountainswere scattered, the perpetualhillsdid bow: his ways are everlasting. I sawthe tentsof Cushaninaffliction: and the curtainsof the landof Midiandid tremble. Was the LORDdispleasedagainst the rivers? was thine angeragainst the rivers? was thy wrathagainst the sea, thatthou didst rideuponthine horses and thy chariotsof salvation? Thy bowwas made quite naked, according to the oathsof the tribes, even thy word. Selah. Thou didst cleavethe earthwith rivers. The mountainssawthee, and they trembled: the overflowingof the waterpassed by: the deeputteredhis voice, and lifted uphis handson high. The sun and moonstood stillin their habitation: at the lightof thine arrowsthey went, and at the shiningof thy glitteringspear. Thou didst march throughthe landin indignation, thou didst threshthe heathenin anger. Thou wentest forthfor the salvationof thy people, even for salvationwiththine anointed; thou woundedstthe headout of the houseof the wicked, by discoveringthe foundationuntothe neck. Selah. Thou didst strike throughwith his stavesthe headof his villages: they came out as a whirlwindto scatterme: their rejoicing was asto devourthe poorsecretly. Thou didst walkthrough the seawith thine horses, through the heapof greatwaters. When I heard, my bellytrembled; my lipsquiveredat the voice: rottennessenteredinto my bones, and I trembledinmyself, thatI might restin the dayof trouble: when he cometh upunto the people, he will invadethem with his troops. Althoughthe fig treeshall notblossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the laborof the oliveshall fail, and the fieldsshall yieldnomeat; the flockshall be cut offfrom the fold, and there shall be noherdin the stalls: Yet Iwill rejoicein the LORD, I will joyin the Godof my salvation. The LORDGod is my strength, and he will makemy feetlike hinds' feet , and he will make me to walkuponmine high places. To the chief singeron my stringed instruments.
