Oh thatthou wouldest rendthe heavens, that thou wouldest come down, that the mountainsmight flow downat thy presence, As when the meltingfireburneth, the firecauseth the watersto boil, to make thy nameknownto thine adversaries, that the nationsmay trembleat thy presence! When thou didstterrible things which we looked not for, thou camest down, the mountainsflowed downat thy presence. For since the beginning of the world men have notheard, norperceived by the ear, neitherhath the eyeseen, O God, besidethee, what he hath preparedfor him that waitethfor him. Thou meetesthim that rejoicethand workethrighteousness, those that rememberthee in thy ways: behold, thouart wroth; for we have sinned: in those is continuance, and we shall be saved. But we areallas an unclean thing , and allour righteousnesses are as filthyrags; and we alldo fadeas a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. And there is nonethat callethupon thy name, that stirreth up himselfto take holdof thee: forthou hast hidthy facefromus, and hast consumedus, becauseof our iniquities. But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thouour potter; and we all are the workof thy hand. Be not wrothvery sore, O LORD, neitherrememberiniquityforever: behold, see, we beseech thee, we are allthy people. Thy holycitiesarea wilderness, Zionisa wilderness, Jerusalema desolation. Our holyand our beautifulhouse, whereour fatherspraisedthee, isburned upwith fire: and allour pleasant thingsarelaid waste. Wilt thou refrain thyselfforthese things , O LORD? wilt thou hold thy peace, and afflictus very sore?
