Shiggaionof David, whichhe sangunto the LORD, concerningthe wordsof Cushthe Benjamite. O LORDmy God, in thee do I put my trust: saveme from allthem that persecuteme, and deliverme: Lesthe tearmy soullike a lion, rending it in pieces, while there is noneto deliver. O LORDmy God, ifI have donethis; ifthere beiniquityin my hands; IfI have rewardedevilunto him that was at peacewith me; (yea, I have deliveredhim that without causeis mine enemy:) Let the enemypersecutemy soul, and take it ; yea, let him tread downmy lifeupon the earth, and laymine honorin the dust. Selah. Arise, O LORD, in thine anger, lift up thyselfbecause of the rageof mine enemies: and awakeforme to the judgment that thou hast commanded. So shall the congregationof the peoplecompass thee about: for their sakestherefore returnthou on high. The LORDshall judgethe people: judgeme, O LORD, according to my righteousness, and according to mine integrity that is inme. Ohlet the wickednessof the wickedcome to an end; but establishthe just: for the righteousGodtrieththe heartsand reins. My defense is ofGod, which saveththe uprightin heart. Godjudgeththe righteous, and Godis angry with the wicked everyday. Ifhe turnnot, he will whethis sword; he hath benthis bow, and made it ready. He hath also preparedfor him the instrumentsof death; he ordainethhis arrowsagainst the persecutors. Behold, he travailethwith iniquity, and hath conceivedmischief, and brought forthfalsehood. He madea pit, and diggedit, and is falleninto the ditch which he made. His mischiefshall returnupon his own head, and his violent dealingshall come downuponhis own pate. I will praisethe LORDaccording to his righteousness: and will sing praiseto the nameof the LORDmost high.
