Then Jobansweredand said, How longwill ye vexmy soul, and break me in pieceswith words? Thesetentimeshave ye reproachedme: ye are notashamed that ye make yourselves strangeto me. Andbe it indeed that I have erred, mine errorremainethwithmyself. Ifindeedye will magnify yourselves againstme, and pleadagainstme my reproach: KnownowthatGodhath overthrownme, and hath compassedme with his net. Behold, I cry outof wrong, but I am notheard: I cry aloud, but there is nojudgment. He hath fenced upmy waythat I cannotpass, and he hath setdarknessinmy paths. He hath stripped me ofmy glory, and takenthe crown from my head. He hath destroyedme on every side, and I am gone: and mine hopehath he removedlike a tree. He hath also kindledhis wrathagainstme, and he countethme unto him as one of his enemies. His troopscometogether, and raise uptheir wayagainstme, and encampround aboutmy tabernacle. He hath put my brethren farfromme, and mine acquaintanceare verilyestrangedfromme. My kinsfolkhave failed, and my familiar friendshave forgottenme. They that dwellin mine house, and my maids, countme for a stranger: I aman alienin their sight. I calledmy servant, and he gave me noanswer; I entreatedhim withmy mouth. My breathis strangeto my wife, though I entreatedfor the children's sake of mine own body. Yea, young childrendespisedme; I arose, and they spokeagainst me. Allmy inwardfriendsabhorredme: and they whomI lovedare turnedagainst me. My bonecleavethto my skinand to my flesh, and I am escapedwith the skinof my teeth. Have pity uponme, have pity uponme, O yemy friends; forthe handof Godhath touchedme. Whydo ye persecuteme asGod, and are notsatisfiedwith my flesh? Oh thatmy wordswerenowwritten! oh thatthey wereprintedin a book! That they were gravenwith an ironpenand leadin the rockforever! For Iknow that my redeemerliveth, and that he shall standat the latter day uponthe earth: And though aftermy skin worms destroythis body , yet in my fleshshall I seeGod: WhomIshall seefor myself, and mine eyesshall behold, and notanother; though my reinsbe consumedwithinme. Butye should say, Whypersecutewe him, seeing the rootof the matteris foundin me? Be ye afraidofthe sword: forwrath bringeth the punishmentsof the sword, thatye may know there is a judgment.
