Then the peopleof the landtookJehoahazthe sonof Josiah, and made him kingin his father's steadin Jerusalem. Jehoahaz was twentyand threeyearsoldwhen he began to reign, and he reignedthreemonthsin Jerusalem. And the kingof Egyptput him downat Jerusalem, and condemnedthe landin a hundredtalentsof silverand a talentof gold. And the kingof Egyptmade Eliakimhis brotherkingoverJudahand Jerusalem, and turnedhis nameto Jehoiakim. And NechotookJehoahazhis brother, and carriedhim to Egypt. Jehoiakim was twentyand fiveyearsoldwhen he began to reign, and he reignedelevenyearsin Jerusalem: and he did that which was evilin the sightof the LORDhis God. Againsthim came upNebuchadnezzarkingof Babylon, and boundhim in fetters, to carryhim to Babylon. Nebuchadnezzaralso carriedof the vesselsof the houseof the LORDto Babylon, and putthem in his templeat Babylon. Now the restof the actsof Jehoiakim, and his abominationswhichhe did, and that which was foundinhim, behold, they are writteninthe bookof the kingsof Israeland Judah: and Jehoiachinhis sonreignedin his stead. Jehoiachin was eightyearsoldwhen he began to reign, and he reignedthreemonthsand tendaysin Jerusalem: and he did that which was evilin the sightof the LORD. And when the yearwas expired, kingNebuchadnezzarsent, and broughthim to Babylon, withthe goodlyvesselsof the houseof the LORD, and madeZedekiahhis brotherking overJudahand Jerusalem. Zedekiah was oneand twentyyearsoldwhen he began to reign, and reignedelevenyearsin Jerusalem. And he did that which was evilin the sightof the LORDhis God, and humbled not himselfbeforeJeremiahthe prophet speaking from the mouthof the LORD. And he alsorebelledagainst kingNebuchadnezzar, whohad made him swearby God: but he stiffenedhis neck, and hardenedhis heartfrom turninguntothe LORDGodof Israel. Moreoverallthe chiefof the priests, and the people, transgressed very muchafter allthe abominationsof the heathen; and pollutedthe houseof the LORDwhichhe had hallowedin Jerusalem. And the LORDGodof their fatherssenttothem byhis messengers, rising up quickly, and sending; becausehe had compassiononhis people, and onhis dwelling place: But they mockedthe messengersof God, and despisedhis words, and misusedhis prophets, untilthe wrathof the LORDaroseagainst his people, till there was noremedy. Therefore he broughtuponthem the kingof the Chaldees, who slewtheir young menwith the swordin the houseof their sanctuary, and had no compassionuponyoung manor maiden, old man, or him that stooped for age: he gave them allinto his hand. And allthe vesselsof the houseof God, greatand small, and the treasuresof the houseof the LORD, and the treasuresof the king, and of his princes; all these he broughtto Babylon. And they burntthe houseof God, and broke downthe wallof Jerusalem, and burntallthe palacesthereof with fire, and destroyedallthe goodlyvesselsthereof. And them that had escapedfromthe swordcarried he awaytoBabylon; where they wereservantsto him and his sonsuntilthe reignof the kingdomof Persia: To fulfillthe wordof the LORDby the mouthof Jeremiah, untilthe landhad enjoyedher sabbaths: for as long asshe lay desolateshe kept sabbath, to fulfillthreescore and tenyears. Now in the firstyearof Cyruskingof Persia, that the wordof the LORD spoken by the mouthof Jeremiahmight be accomplished, the LORDstirred upthe spiritof Cyruskingof Persia, that he made a proclamationthroughout allhis kingdom, and put it alsoin writing, saying, ThussaithCyruskingof Persia, Allthe kingdomsof the earthhath the LORDGodof heavengivenme; and hehath chargedme to buildhim a housein Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Who is there among you of allhis people? The LORDhis God be withhim, and let him go up.
