Now when allthiswas finished, allIsraelthat were presentwent outto the citiesof Judah, and broke the images in pieces, and cut downthe groves, and threw downthe high placesand the altarsout of allJudahand Benjamin, in Ephraimalso and Manasseh, untilthey had utterly destroyedthem all. Then allthe childrenof Israelreturned, every manto his possession, into their own cities. And Hezekiahappointedthe coursesof the priestsand the Levitesaftertheir courses, every manaccording tohis service, the priestsand Levitesfor burnt offeringsand for peace offerings, to minister, and to give thanks, and to praisein the gatesof the tentsof the LORD. He appointed also the king's portionofhis substancefor the burnt offerings, to wit , for the morningand eveningburnt offerings, and the burnt offeringsfor the sabbaths, and for the new moons, and for the set feasts, as it is writtenin the lawof the LORD. Moreover he commandedthe peoplethat dweltin Jerusalemto givethe portionof the priestsand the Levites, thatthey might be encouragedin the lawof the LORD. And as soon as the commandmentcame abroad, the childrenof Israelbrought in abundancethe firstfruitsof corn, wine, and oil, and honey, and of allthe increaseof the field; and the titheof all things brought they inabundantly. And concerning the childrenof Israeland Judah, that dweltin the citiesof Judah, theyalsobrought inthe titheof oxenand sheep, and the titheof holy thingswhich were consecratedunto the LORDtheir God, and laid them by heaps. In the thirdmonththey beganto lay the foundationof the heaps, and finished them in the seventhmonth. And when Hezekiahand the princescameand sawthe heaps, they blessedthe LORD, and his peopleIsrael. Then Hezekiahquestionedwiththe priestsand the Levitesconcerningthe heaps. And Azariahthe chiefpriestof the houseof Zadokansweredhim, and said, Since the people beganto bringthe offeringsinto the houseof the LORD, we have had enoughto eat, and have leftplenty: forthe LORDhath blessedhis people; and that which is left is thisgreat store. Then Hezekiahcommandedto preparechambersin the houseof the LORD; and they prepared them , And brought inthe offeringsand the tithesand the dedicated things faithfully: overwhich Cononiahthe Levite was ruler, and Shimeihis brother was the next. And Jehiel, and Azaziah, and Nahath, and Asahel, and Jerimoth, and Jozabad, and Eliel, and Ismachiah, and Mahath, and Benaiah, were overseersunder the handof Cononiahand Shimeihis brother, at the commandmentof Hezekiahthe king, and Azariahthe rulerof the houseof God. And Korethe sonof Imnahthe Levite, the portertoward the east, was overthe freewill offeringsof God, to distributethe oblationsof the LORD, and the most holy things. And nexthim were Eden, and Miniamin, and Jeshua, and Shemaiah, Amariah, and Shecaniah, in the citiesof the priests, in their set office, to giveto their brethrenby courses, as well to the greatas to the small: Besidetheir genealogyof males, from threeyearsoldand upward, even unto every onethat enterethinto the houseof the LORD, his dailyportionfor their servicein their chargesaccording to their courses; Both tothe genealogyof the priestsby the houseof their fathers, and the Levitesfrom twentyyearsoldand upward, in their chargesby their courses; And to the genealogyof alltheir little ones, their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, through allthe congregation: forin their set officethey sanctified themselvesin holiness: Also of the sonsof Aaronthe priests, which were in the fieldsof the suburbsof their cities, in everyseveral city, the menthatwere expressedby name, to giveportionsto allthe malesamong the priests, and to allthat were reckoned by genealogiesamong the Levites. And thusdidHezekiahthroughout allJudah, and wrought that which was goodand rightand truthbeforethe LORDhis God. And in everyworkthathe beganin the serviceof the houseof God, and in the law, and in the commandments, to seekhis God, he did it with allhis heart, and prospered.
