And he said, Behold, I have heardthatthere iscornin Egypt: get you downthither, and buyfor us from thence; that we may live, and notdie. And Joseph's tenbrethrenwent downto buycornin Egypt. But Benjamin, Joseph's brother, Jacobsentnotwithhis brethren; forhe said, Lest peradventuremischiefbefallhim. And the sonsof Israelcameto buy corn amongthose that came: forthe faminewasin the landof Canaan. And Joseph was the governoroverthe land, and he it was that soldto allthe peopleof the land: and Joseph's brethrencame, and bowed down themselvesbefore him with their facesto the earth. And Josephsawhis brethren, and he knewthem, but made himself strangeuntothem, and spokeroughlyuntothem; and he saiduntothem, Whencecomeye? And they said, From the landof Canaanto buyfood. And Josephknewhis brethren, but theyknewnothim. And Josephrememberedthe dreamswhichhe dreamedof them, and saiduntothem, Ye are spies; to seethe nakednessof the landye are come. And they saiduntohim, Nay, my lord, but to buyfoodare thy servantscome. We are alloneman's sons; we are true men , thy servantsarenospies. And he saiduntothem, Nay, butto seethe nakednessof the landye are come. And they said, Thy servants are twelvebrethren, the sonsof onemanin the landof Canaan; and, behold, the youngest is this daywithour father, and one is not. And Josephsaiduntothem, That is it thatI spokeuntoyou, saying, Ye are spies: Herebyye shall be proved: By the lifeof Pharaohye shall not go forthhence, exceptyour youngestbrothercomehither. Sendoneofyou, and let him fetchyour brother, and yeshall be kept in prison, that your wordsmay be proved, whether there be any truthinyou: or elseby the lifeof Pharaohsurelyye are spies. And he put them all togetherintowardthreedays. And Josephsaiduntothem the thirdday, Thisdo, and live; for IfearGod: Ifye be true men , let oneof your brethrenbe boundin the houseof your prison: goye, carrycornfor the famineof your houses: But bringyour youngestbrotheruntome; so shall your wordsbe verified, and ye shall notdie. And they didso. And they saidonetoanother, We are verilyguiltyconcerningour brother, in thatwe sawthe anguishof his soul, when he besoughtus, and we would nothear; thereforeis thisdistresscomeuponus. And Reubenansweredthem, saying, SpokeI notuntoyou, saying, Do notsinagainst the child; and ye would nothear? therefore, behold, alsohis bloodis required. And theyknewnotthatJosephunderstood them ; forhe spoke untothem by an interpreter. And he turned himself aboutfromthem, and wept; and returnedtothem again, and communedwiththem, and tookfromthem Simeon, and boundhim before their eyes. Then Josephcommandedto filltheir sackswith corn, and to restoreevery man's moneyintohis sack, and to givethem provisionfor the way: and thusdidhe unto them. And they ladedtheir asseswith the corn, and departedthence. And as oneof them openedhis sackto givehis assprovenderin the inn, he espiedhis money; for, behold, it was in his sack's mouth. And he saiduntohis brethren, My moneyis restored; and, lo, it is evenin my sack: and their heartfailed them , and they were afraid, sayingonetoanother, What is this that Godhath doneunto us? And they cameuntoJacobtheir fatherunto the landof Canaan, and toldhim allthat befellunto them; saying, The man, who is the lordof the land, spokeroughlytous, and tookus for spiesof the country. And we saiduntohim, We are true men ; we arenospies: We be twelvebrethren, sonsof our father; one is not, and the youngest is this daywithour fatherin the landof Canaan. And the man, the lordof the country, saiduntous, Herebyshall I knowthatye are true men ; leaveoneof your brethren here withme, and take food for the famineof your households, and be gone: And bringyour youngestbrotheruntome: then shall I knowthatye are nospies, but that ye are true men: so will I deliveryou your brother, and ye shall trafficin the land. And it came to passas theyemptiedtheir sacks, that, behold, every man's bundleof money was in his sack: and when both theyand their fathersawthe bundlesof money, they were afraid. And Jacobtheir fathersaiduntothem, Me have ye bereaved of my children : Joseph is not, and Simeon is not, and ye will takeBenjamin away : allthese things areagainstme. And Reubenspokeuntohis father, saying, Slaymy twosons, ifI bringhim nottothee: deliverhim intomy hand, and Iwill bringhim tothee again. And he said, My sonshall notgo downwithyou; forhis brotheris dead, and heis leftalone: if mischiefbefallhim by the wayin the whichye go, then shall ye bring downmy gray hairswith sorrowto the grave.
